Bagel Time opens new location on Pleasant Street

WORCESTER — Bagel Time has officially opened its doors at its new location at 500 Pleasant Street, marking a new chapter for the longtime local favorite.

City officials, business leaders, and community members gathered on Thursday, Feb. 27, for a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the move.

The shop, owned by Marieta "Mary" Zaruha, faced delays during renovations due to infrastructure challenges, including the need for three-phase power to support its equipment.

With assistance from the Worcester Business Development Corporation (WBDC) and funding through an SBA loan, the project moved forward, culminating in the opening of the new space in October 2024.

Speakers at the event included Worcester Mayor Joe Petty, District Councilor Luis Ojeda, and representatives from the WBDC, Webster Five, and the office of Senator Robyn Kennedy.

The response from customers has been overwhelmingly positive, with Bagel Time continuing to serve its signature bagels, spreads, and breakfast offerings to a devoted local following.
