Car Dealership Joins WBDC's SBA 504 Loan Portfolio

Worcester, MA – The Worcester Business Development Corporation (WBDC) proudly announces the addition of Butler GMC, Inc. to its SBA 504 loan portfolio. Located in Charlton, Massachusetts, the full-service dealership is benefiting from a $3.3 million project that supports the acquisition of both the business and its real estate.

“We are thrilled to support Butler GMC through the SBA 504 loan program,” said Christina Escobar, Director of SBA & Lending at the WBDC. “This partnership reflects our ongoing commitment to helping local businesses grow and thrive.”

Previously known as McGee GMC, the dealership built a solid reputation for its wide selection of new and used GMC vehicles, financing and insurance services, and trusted mechanical work. Robert McGee and James McKay, who have led the dealership since 2017, are now preparing for retirement.

The business has been acquired by a team of seasoned automotive professionals: Raymond Butler, Brian Lindsey, and Robert Montgomery. Butler owns Midstate Mitsubishi in Auburn, Lindsey has worked at the Charlton dealership since 2014, and Montgomery brings over 20 years of experience in auto finance.

The dealership currently employs 20 staff members and plans to add five more, reinforcing its commitment to job creation and regional economic growth.

Financing was provided through the SBA 504 loan program, administered by the WBDC in partnership with bankHometown. The loan supports the purchase of a 12,180-square-foot building on a 3.5-acre property, which houses the dealership’s showroom, service center, and parts department.

“Partnering with the WBDC on the SBA 504 loan for Butler GMC, Inc. was a great example of how public and private institutions can work together to support local businesses. In addition to their SBA 504 program, the WBDC’s expertise and deep understanding of local economic

development are instrumental in helping to support business growth and job creation. At bankHometown, we’re proud to be a part of this effort, and we strongly encourage other banks in our community to partner with the WBDC to help drive continued revitalization across Worcester County” says Rob Morton, President & CEO at bankHometown.
